Seventeen new cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria

In the latest update of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, fourteen new cases have been reported as of Friday evening, April 10th by the National Centre for Disease Control. In a new update on their Twitter page, the NCDC reports that there’s seventeen new cases in Lagos, Katsina, FCT, Niger, Kaduna, Anambra and Ondo. Their tweet reads, Seventeen new cases of #COVID19 have been reported as follows: 8 in Lagos
3 in Katsina
2 in FCT
1 in Niger
1 in Kaduna
1 in Anambra

Wife and two children of doctor who died of COVID-19 in Katsina tests positive

The wife and two children of the doctor who died from coronavirus complication in Katsina State have all tested positive for the disease. Recall that on April 7th, Dr. Aminu Yakubu, a Daura based private medical practitioner, who recently returned from Lagos to the state, died three days after his return. His blood sample was taken to the NCDC office in Abuja for examination and it was confirmed he was positive for Coronavirus.
The Governor of the state, Aminu Masari today April 10th announced that the positive cases were among the 23 persons traced to have had contact with the state’s index case who died recently. Governor Masari said a total of 23 samples were sent for tests after the doctor’s death and three of the samples including that of his wife and two of his children returned positive. He said they have been evacuated to an isolation center located at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina for treatment.

Three coronavirus patients discharged in Oyo state

Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, has announced that Three coronavirus patients have recovered and have been discharged from the isolation centre in the state. Makinde stated that the trio were discharged after testing negative twice to the virus. He wrote on Twitter; ”Yesterday, three confirmed COVID-19 patients were discharged after receiving their second negative test results. This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to five. Nigerian talent manager and special adviser on tourism in Cross River state, Ubi Franklin, has joined the fight against coronavirus. Ubi has now decided to donate his salary for four months to the cause. The coronavirus pandemic is an issue that has been plaguing many countries in the world for a few months now and many governments are left feeling almost overwhelmed as the virus threatens to cripple its healthcare system. This has led to a lot of kind, rich and well-meaning people to join hands with the government and assist in any little way they can.
