World Cup 2022 highest goal scorers so far (Top 13)

Following Saturday's 2022 FIFA World Cup round of 16 matches, below are currently the leading top scorers in the tournament in Qatar. 

 Recall that the Netherlands defeated the USA 3-1, while Argentina won 2-1 against Australia. 

 Argentina's captain, Lionel Messi, is currently the joint-top scorer in the ongoing World Cup with three goals. 

 Messi scored a goal in Argentina's World Cup last-16 victory over Australia. Apart from the Paris Saint-Germain star, Netherlands winger Cody Gakpo, Spain's Alvaro Morata, and England's Marcus Rashford, among others, also have three goals.
